Yesterday, the US Supreme Court struck down a law banning firearms in Washington DC. This was a huge step forward in common sense which is something I thought was totally lacking in our nation's capital. It made no sense to me that DC would have a ban on guns while holding one of the highest crime rates in the country.
From my standpoint, home invasions should drop sharply after this goes into effect. To a criminal, knowing that people won't have guns in their houses makes it much more tempting to break in, and do whatever criminals feel like doing. Under this law, only the criminals have guns. Now, people can begin to protect their homes the same way the rest of the nation does. Hopefully with people exercising their Second Amendment rights, the criminals aren't going to be the only armed people in DC.
