I know it has again been too long since I've written anything, but I've finally gotten some time to do this. Anyway, back to the topic. A friend of mine is going through some personal issues right now, and the drama that recently unfolded has struck me as disturbing. She actually hit him with her car, did some other horrible and illegal things. It wasn't the fact that she did all of this, but the face that she is still free.
Obviously I'm not going to mention names or anything, but if the genders were reversed, I am 100% sure there was be a massive manhunt for him and he would be in jail. This is the kind of thing that makes me absolutely ill about our police department. The picture he panted of the response from the police (aside from the original office who was very helpful) was not one of service, but one of contempt. The second office was rude, and essentially told him there was nothing they could do.
Some people, after reading this, will call me gender bias, and probably a few other things, but I really don't care. If the police department and more importantly our society wants to truly progress, we need to be less concerned with gender, skin color, sexual orientation, or ethnic background, and more concerned with the action of people. Someone once said "we're all pink on the inside" and that sticks with me. Its too bad I don't recall where it came from, but its the truth.
